Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

Introduction to Engineering & Design (30R301)

Grades: 9-12      Length: 1 year      Credit: 1      GPA weight: 1.0

Prerequisite: None

This course emphasizes: Students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects. They work both individually and in teams to design solutions to a variety of problems using 3-D modeling software, and use an engineering notebook to document their work.

Civil Engineering & Architecture (30R304)

Grades: 10-12      Length: 1 year      Credit: 1      GPA weight: 1.0

Prerequisite: Introduction to Engineering & Design

This course emphasizes: Students learn important aspects of building and site design and development. They apply math, science, and standard engineering practices to design both residential and commercial projects and document their work using 3-D architectural design software.

Principles of Engineering (30R303)

Grades: 11-12     Length: 1 year       Credit: 1       GPA Weight: 1.0

Prerequisite: Civil Engineering & Architecture

Principles Of Engineering (POE) is a high school-level survey course of engineering. The course exposes students to some of the major concepts that they will encounter in a post-secondary engineering course of study. Students have an opportunity to investigate engineering and high tech careers. POE gives students the opportunity to develop skills and understanding of course concepts through activity-, project-, and problem-based (APPB) learning. Used in combination with a teaming approach, APPB learning challenges students to continually hone their interpersonal skills, creative abilities, and problem solving skills based upon engineering concepts. It also allows students to develop strategies to enable and direct their own learning, which is the ultimate goal of education.

Architecture Design I (30R112)

Grades: 11-12   Length: 1 year      Credit: 1       GPA Weight:  1.0

Prerequisite: Algebra I & English I

In Architectural Design I, students will gain knowledge and skills needed to enter a career in architecture or construction or prepare a foundation toward a postsecondary degree in architecture, construction science, drafting, interior design, or landscape architecture. Architectural Design I include the knowledge of the design, design history, techniques, and tools related to the production of drawings, renderings, and scaled models for nonresidential or residential architectural purposes.

Architecture Design II (30R113)

Grades: 12   Length: 1 year      Credit: 1       GPA Weight:  1.0

Prerequisite: Architecture Design I

This course emphasizes utilizes architectural terms, symbols, residential construction materials, and processes to produce a set of residential construction drawings including site plan, floor plan, elevations, wall sections, schedules, details, and foundation plan using reference materials

Manufacturing Engineering Tech I (30R306)

Grades: 12   Length: 1 year      Credit: 1       GPA Weight:  1.0

Prerequisite: Architecture Design I or Principles of Engineering
